Cortes Island, BC (also Vancouver and Victoria, BC)
Hollyhock is an educational retreat centre with programs, retreats, and conferences on wellbeing, wisdom teachings, arts and culture, and social change. Retreats of interest include those on meditation, MBSR, yoga, Buddhist teachings, and the integration of mindfulness and the arts. Retreats are open to all. They are offered year-long for the duration of one day to three weeks.
Insight Meditation Society
The Insight Meditation Society hosts meditation retreats for new to experienced practitioners. Many retreats are open to all, with some designed for specific groups such as families, teens, young adults, and people of colour. Retreats are offered year-long and vary in length from one weekend to three months, with longer personal retreats available for experienced meditators. CE credits available.
Omega Institute for Holistic Studies
Omega hosts workshops, conferences, and retreats for wellbeing, personal and professional growth, and sustainability. Programs of interest include meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness-based workshops (including MBSR) and retreats suitable for new to experienced practitioners; these events are offered throughout the year and typically last one weekend to one week. Professional development available includes mindfulness training in ACT, MB-EAT, MBCT, and mindfulness and yoga for children. CE and CME credits available.
Promoting Mindful Practice in Medical Education
Upcoming: October 31-November 3, 2012
This workshop is offered through the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry and is intended for physicians and medical students and professors. Participants will further develop their mindfulness capabilities to enhance personal and professional wellbeing, learn how to lead experiential mindfulness exercises, and learn how to integrate mindful practice into university programs. CME accredited with AMA credit available.
Spirit Rock Meditation Center
Spirit Rock hosts numerous retreats, classes, and workshops on mindfulness and insight meditation. Retreats are designed for new to experienced meditators and include programs for specific groups such as teens, families, women, minorities, and healing professionals. Retreats are offered year-long and vary in length from one day to two months. CE credits available.
The Sanctuary offers courses, workshops, and day programs grounded in meditative practices. Programs are short, lasting up to a day, or scheduled periodically, such as with one meeting weekly over several weeks. Specific programs are designed for youth. A conference on mindfulness and mental health has been offered in the past.

Brain Development and Learning

A biennial, interdisciplinary conference dedicated to the wellbeing of children through the discussion of new research and applications of neuroscience, child psychology, and medicine. Dr. Dan Siegel will be one of the presenters in 2013.
